Pricing depends on order quantity and where they are being delivered to. We can generally have the units delivered anywhere in the US for $35-38 a sqft all-in cost.

The units are shipped in 40 foot High Cube shipping containers and will be delivered by truck. We can work with your team to help plan the installation process. The units are delivered flat-packed and each XL shipping container can fit about 10 Rockpod units.

Our team will coordinate all freight shipping, import filings, and help coordinate your delivery.

Each Rockpod unit has reinforced forklift fork receivers so that the units can be moved by one man on a forklift. We recommend hiring a tilt-bed truck (tow truck) with a winch to easily pull the units from the trailer and drop them on your site. The units take about 30-40 minutes each to assemble and you will probably want 4 men to help out if you are going to be hand placing any of the wall panels without help from a crane.

Each Rockpod unit has reinforced forklift fork receivers so that the units can be moved by one man on a forklift, but the wall and ceiling panels are ~400lbs each so installation is made much easier with a telescopic handler / telehandler so you can lift the side and ceilings panels into place.

The fully assembled Rockpod 20' units max out at 3,000lbs each, so if you plan to assemble the units in one location and then move them, make sure your tools can handle that weight. If you're short on equipment, you can also move the 990lb floor panels into the final unit location and assemble the walls and ceiling panels in-place.

We recommend hiring a tilt-bed truck (tow truck) with a winch for the unit deliveries to easily pull the units from the trailer and drop them onto your site.

The 20' fully assembled units weigh about 1400 kilograms / 3,000 pounds each. This includes the doors, walls, top, etc.

The floor panel is 450kgs / 990lbs and is best moved with a forklift / crane lift.

The wall panels are 130kgs / 290lbs each.

The roof panel is 180 kgs / 400lbs each.

The support structure, walls, ceiling, and doors are all made of hot dipped galvanized steel. Those components are then coated in a color matched varnish which is baked on for a solid final coating. The floor of the units is 16 gauge galvanized diamond plate.

Generally, portable storage units are classified as business equipment or ‘personal property’ and do not require city approval to install, although every city is different and we can’t guarantee specific outcomes in every municipality. Customers should talk with their city planning teams if they have concerns about specific city regulation issues.

The Rockpod units’ useful lifespan depends on the environment they’re used in and the amount of preventative attention, etc. that they receive. Our manufacturing partners estimate a minimum useful life of the Rockpod structural components at 15 to 20 years.

Maximizing the lifespan of your Rockpod units requires ensuring they are sitting on a surface with adequate drainage, minimizing surface damage, and repainting bare metal if it’s exposed by scrapes, impacts, or use.

Moving components like rolling doors, springs, and hinges will have shorter useful lives and will require maintenance as is typical with all self storage structures.

As with all heavy equipment, proactive preventative maintenance is critical to ensure the structures last as long as possible.

You can place them on any surface, but we would recommend one that at a minimum is reasonably graded and has good drainage. You could place them on a concrete pad or asphalt, but gravel and bare graded ground also work.
